Is it true that you can lap Valencia one second slower on the R1 than on your 500 GP bike?
Not now, but last year the gap wasn't so big. I was doing 1'58''7s last year on the R1 which is not so bad. My best lap with the 500 was 56 so that's about two seconds. But my 500 was hard to ride last year. This year, in testing I did 1'55. Overall, I felt more comfortable with the R1. Riding that bike sometimes helped me to believe in myself when the results weren't coming last year. I could take my R1 and enjoy myself. I didn't have any tyres or suspension to test, I could just ride the bike.
Question answered by top 500GP rider Carlos Checa. Think if you could buy a family sports car that could stay this close to MS Ferrari!!!
