Lo,

I'm currently looking around for a car, I seen a 97 Mitsubishi FTo that looks stunning, and supprisingly new looking, so that got me thinking, Is it possable to re-register the car so that instead of having a 97D registration numberplate, I could get a 02D registration number plate for the same car?

Is there any way that I could do this?

most motor factors will make you up a new licence plate. I change my one every year. Its the cheapest way to keep up.

really? I didnt think it would of been that easy. Everyone I was talking to said something like 'No, no chance at all, You get the year on the numberplate corresponding to the year the car was manafactured'?

Brian, can you be a bit more specific on exactly how to go about getting a new 02d numberplate? legally ofcourse :D lol
is their any offical companies or people that can give advice to doing this?

Since the car was originally registered in 97 how is it possible to get a 02 number plate on it since 02 would mean the car would only be 5 months old at most! The first two digits of the Irish number plates are the year the car was first registered.

I cannot see how this is legal.

Guys Brian was talking the piss.

The only way you can get a new plate is if you have a new car or you make a new car.

Becareful, most of the fancy plates are illegal in this country, garda love pulling you over for little things like that. My cousin had fancy plates with the word "coupe" written in place of the county of registration. Garda pulled him over and told him to replace them that they were not legal and if caught again he would be fined.

Interest stuff. Glad you said it.

So ignoring the reg number (EFORECOURT) is the reg plate below, illegal?

Yes,

Only the standard irish plates seem to be legal, nice work though!

Phew, you certainly saved me some money there. :D

Is the following Reg Plate legal and if so, is £15 sterling plus £3.50 for post and packaging expensive?

Has anyone else got their reg plates customized in the past?

Yes, its a pity we can't have our own designs on the reg plates. The first one would have certainly gone well with the Beemer!

The second one looks fine to me, I can't see any issues with that one. Now where's my glasses.... :clown:

Well I'm thinking of getting both reg plates.

The first Reg Plate would be used for Photo's of the car to put up on the site and second one would just be used for every day driving.

I'm thinking of getting BrianS car care service's again, so the reg plate would be a good addition for when the photo is been taking.

Must get those eForecourt stickers organized aswell. ;)

What do you think?

Phil,

I ordered mine Tuesday night, they were the same as that but with "Avensis 1.8" written on the bottom, they arrived by post this morning from NI. Cost €30 (GB£19) including delivery + postage), costs more to get them locally and I would be waiting longer.
