Hi Folks
Has anyone out there had any problems with the new Polos ?
We have had problems with EPC warning lights coming repeatedly and I have heard from other people whose cars keep suddenly stalling on them.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Are you sure its a German car you're driving there Cyclist? Sounds more like an Italian job to me :)
Seriously though, I'm surprised that a newish VW would be giving trouble like that. Did you take it up with a VW dealer, and if so what did they have to say?

A cousin of mine bought a 1.4L version and got one from the first few batches. Within about 6 weeks she was having problems with the warning lights constantly coming on so she went back to the dealer. They took a look at it and said it was only a minor electrics issue which they had fixed. So she accepted that and within 3 weeks the problem reoccured. Once again back to the dealer where they gave her a new car.
About 3 weeks later again the same problem started up on the new car so back again to the dealer. They said the problem was related to the control chip needing to be upgraded to a newer software version. She happened to know one of the mechanics in the dealership who told her not to let them do that as all it was going to do was disable the warning lights and not really solve her problem.
Feeling it wasn't good enough she asked for her money back which the dealer wasn't inclined to do so after about a month of letters, phone calls and threatening legal proceedings she got a full refund. She's now driving a Toyota Corolla and has not one problem.
Saying that though I bought the 1.2 litre myself about 2 weeks after she got her car and I've had no problems at all. While following up on the problem my cousin was being told that there were quite a number of the earlier cars with similar problems the majority of which seem to have been 1.4L versions.

Hi
Yes, WhipLash this new Polo has been truly and utterly awful.
I think your observation of VW hacking the software to stop the lights from coming on AutoMac is probably not far wrong.
There is still an underlying problem with them that needs fixing.
So much for Volkswagen reliability !
