It really is a pity that we can't get "classic" or "limited mileage" for cars, say , over 10 years old, here in Ireland.

In the UK you can get limited mileage policies for many "future classics" that are only 2 or 3 YEARS old !!!

Many cars built in the 1980's are being overlooked (and scrapped !) because classic enthusiasts would have to pay full insurance rates for the car.

Also, why can't we get "everyday use" insurance for old cars, as is the case in Northern Ireland and the UK ?

Try Carole Nash for limited mileage classic insurance.Ive got my 1986 Ford Capri with them even though it technically insnt a classic yet.

Thanks for the info, johnny m.
Good to finally get a response to my post.

I had an 87' Manta GTE back in 2000 (cool car) and could only get a normal insurance policy for it. Major downside was lack of "agreed value" cover.
I think Carole Nash had just withdrawn from the market here at the time.
I believe they will only cover a car around 17 yrs (or older) so my Manta wouldn't have qualified at the time - even though most would regard it as a "classic".
Ended up selling the car shortly afterwards.

It's a real pity that more classic car owners don't use this excellent forum/site. A great place to share info/experiences.
