Jerking on accelleration

I have a 99 Nissan Primera which will sometimes start jerking while accellerating normally like the engine is under strain. The engine also sounds a little noiser than normal.

How many miles on the vehicle? do you have a history of when the timing belt was replaced? It may be attributed to the timing (timing is off). Also i'd try a fuel purge. Sometimes clogged fuel injectors cause that kind of problem.
