Hi Folks

You might have seen my post earlier about my brand new VW Polo who's engine management and emissions warning lights kept coming on.

Well after going back to the dealers ten times, VW eventually accepted that the car was faulty and replaced it.

I have only had the replacement car three weeks and it has already been back twice, again with the engine management and emissions warning lights coming on.

I understand that this is a very common problem with new VW Polos and would love to hear from others with the same problem.

VW have already been on the BBC Watchdog problem twice for security and reliability problems.

What's going On ????

Thanks for the info.

I know someone who is about to buy one so it will be good to put it her way.

How serious is the problem? Is it simply the warning lights or do they signal that there is an inherent system fault?

Hi Brian

That's the whole problem.

The Polo manual advises that when these warning lights come on you must drive very slowly and immediately to your nearest VW dealer as it must be something quite seriously wrong with the engine.

VW themselves don't know what is wrong with the cars.

Every time a customer takes a car back to them, the reset the fault codes, replace sensors, upgrade software and send you on your way until it happens again.

It's costing people a fortune in lost business hours waiting around in service offices.

The problem is that we can't even trade the car in because we can't honestly sign a disclaimer to say that the car is free from faults.

VW have already been on BBC's Watchdog twice now with security vulnerabilities and the infamous coil pack problems and I wouldn't be surpised if this one gets exposed as well.
