View Full Version : Monte Carlo
Just checking in to see if anyone is going to the Monte Carlo race in the next few weeks. :D
A few of the eForecourt crew are heading over for the long weekend to watch the race and make our millions in the casino's :D . If you can't connect to eForecourt site after the race, you'll know that we have lost our shirts and what ever else we were wearing in the casino. ;)
Looking forward to the race because I never have been to a live race before. Bring on the drink http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/smoke.gif, the women http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/naughty.gif and oh yeah the race :D.
Have any of you guys been to any of the races in the past and if so what should I bring with me.
Cheers Phil.

You lucky sons of bitches! I'd say all you'll need to bring is a pair of shorts, a Jordan T-shirt, shades, sun cream, driving license so you can rent a descent sports car, , camera, and last but not least money, and plenty of it too!
Will you be bringing a digital camera to the GP? It would be a shame not to have one. Then you could post all the action here on the site for the rest of us to drool over :)
The weather in Monte Carlo is quite unpredictable. I wouldn’t be surprised if you have rain over the weekend, so be prepared for that too. In fact I don’t think it has rained during the GP for the past few years, so its probably due to rain this year :p

Well spotted Eirik! Of course you can't forget the old skins, now can you? And just like Michael Schumacher, you’ll have to decide what type to go with. Depending on the amount of drink consumed, will it be Soft or Hard compound? Also, should you decide to use slicks for better grip, or wets so you don’t slide out? http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/naughty.gif

Hey guys, I don't think my wife would be too impressed with that type of talk! :p
I think she’d be fairly p1ssed off now to be honest http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/angryfire.gif .
So what type of talent can we expect to meet over in Monaco then ;) :D .

On a more practical note, you'll need a pair of ear plugs.
You'll be able to get these at the race of course but if you have some then bring them.
Maybe if you find a vantage point at a fairly slow corner you might not need them but along the straights the noise would deafen you.
A set of builders of farmers ear-muffs would be great but they wouldn't look too cool so if you're trying to impress the talent then maybe the ear plugs would be a better option.

I’ve actually heard of someone who went to the British GP a few years ago and was indeed positioned right on a fast straight. He thought the engine noise was simply amazing, and refused to use the earplugs. Apparently he arrived home minus his hearing, and was clinically deaf for a few weeks. Lucky for him it came back.
Smokie, sounds like you’ve been to a GP before then?
Half the country wanted to go to Monte Carlo after the TV Director focused in on three or four well-proportioned Brazilian(?) brids last year. Naturally, I was unaffected...being married 'en all !..

Yep, only one I'm afraid. It was the Melbourne GP 1999. Eddie Irvine's first win.
I watched the race from a fairly slow corner (turn 9 for those of you who may be familiar with the track). It was good because you could get a good look at the cars and the noise was bearable even without the ear plugs.
The only disadvantage was that I was too far away from the podium to get there in time for the presentation.
However when I got there I joined with the throng of Irish people and Ferrari fans chanting EEEEdddddie, EEEEdddddie, EEEEdddddie. Eventually the stewards realised that the only way the crowd were going to disperse was if they sent for Eddie.
So, out he came again and waved to the crowd, threw his hat in the air causing a mad scramble and then we all went home content. Excellent day.

Cool smokie! So did you manage to catch Eddie's hat then?! ;)
With all those amasing women over there, I hope that I visit the pits alot and get a full overhaul. I've heard that this beats the pratice session before hand. I just hope that I last the pace and make it to the checked flag.
Oh no !!! I just got a 'stop go penalty' back to the pits for me!!

Can I Go? Can I Go?
Pleassssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has to be the best Gp of all to go to.
Lots of celebs, beutiful chicks, and the casino's.
Make sure ye bring a digital camera with you.
Don't worry Astraman I'll send you a postcard.
I'll try and get Ciaran to be our rovering reporter for eForecourt. We'll try and get as many video/pictures as we can of the race and the women over the 3 days. I'll put these up in the gallery in the F1 gallery section for your close inspection when we get back. If you have any other 'legal' ideas please stick them up on this thread.
Oh I can feel the rays from Monte Carlo already. See you at the race guys.
One small step for man one giant step for eForecourt.
Cheers Phil.

Whip - I was there last year - excellent!! Where are your tickets for??? Anyway, I don't think a small FM walkman was mentioned. Commentary is available locally on FM in French, English and either German or Italian (not sure which), but is broadcast on loudspeakers in same 3 languages in turn (usually in English while 20 cars are passing you!!!). So with walkman you get full commentary - which is especially handy if you can't see the big screen. For pure pleasure, try recording the sound at the start of the race - take it from me that 22 F1 cars at full tilt, with engine noise reverberating around the tower blocks, is a noise that'd give ye a stalk to bate a stuck ass out of a bog!!!

That’s an excellent suggestion Scrawny, I’ll add a FM walkman to the list. We were trying to get tickets which would allow us to view the big screen, but there appeared to be non of these available in Ireland, so we got tickets for stands ‘L’, which I believe is on the straight by the swimming pool?
Since you were there only last year, maybe you can tell us what’s the story with evening entertainment? Where are the best places to go/avoid? Is it possible to gain entry to the Casino during the GP weekend, and if so is there a strict dress code enforced? Would I be right in presuming that the currency needed is French Francs? Any other advice you can give us, no matter how small it may seem, is very welcome indeed.

Just wondering guys how much the whole package costs and what kind of spending money you're going to bring.
Not being nosy it's just that sooner or later I'll convince Her Indoors that it's the perfect way to spend our hard earned cash & have a kickin weekend.
