Sometime ago a frend of mine not long back in Ireland noticed that there was no Motor Show in Ireland and had not been for a vast number of years.....needless to say he bought up the rights and set about getting one off thee ground...BUT.. he was duely informed by the ruling body in Ireland that the wouldd not support it 1, the last time they one it lost money baack in,,,,,,?
2, The Irish motorist did not want it ? that is true.
Now in my view yes the Irish public would love one and I dont see why not NI which is a much smaller province can have one why not down here....It would bee interesting to here views on this matter

To those people who rplied to this the thing was he tryed to set up the show at the height of sales in Ireland 2000 but it was Simi who said they had no interest in fact it was Simi who stated that the IRISH PUBLICK would have no interest in a show.
aLL the Media said there should be a show but were not prepaired to go against Simi for obvious reasons of advertising.
He had raised sporship from Banks ,Oil, Insurance, Tyres, etc but Simi would not play ball.....So its up to you driving public to get on to Simi and aske the Question WHY...

An Irish Motor Show, what an interesting subject!

I'd love to see a major motor show in Ireland. However, it would have to be a well-organised event with the support of the most, if not all, the main manufacturers to have any chance of success.

Over the last couple of years some manufacturers have shunned the 'smaller' of the motor shows around Europe, with only the main ones receiving full attention by the manufacturers.

About two years ago when there was a motorsports show on in the RDS, we noticed some signs up for a Ford motor show. Around the corner in another part of the RDS Ford has all their cars on show, including the new (at the time) Mondeo, the Ford Think! and a prototype of the forthcoming StreetKA. It was a small affair, but was free in and well worth the visit IMHO.

Has your friend contacted the main importers into Ireland to see what their response is? With the different brands being imported by only a handful of companies, it should be easy enough to contact each one in turn - see the importers listing here on eForecourt (http://www.eforecourt.com/php/irishcar_distributors.php). What about contacting the main Irish motoring magazines, Irish Times etc? Did they receive any positive feedback at all?

Just another point to remember, is that car sales are way down on previous years. Car Dealers are now using any means possible to sell cars .i.e. online car classifieds.

2 years ago a car dealer would have laughed in your face if you had of mentioned putting their cars up online. Now its a different story. The proof is in the pudding. Just look at our Dealer Classifieds (http://dealerads.eforecourt.com/usedcars/) to see the amount of car dealers using this system.

I think the country could do with a car show, to help inform the public of whats out there to buy.

So tell your friend to get out his long stick and start knocking down some doors.
