To those who took time out to reply the answer to your some of your questions is that Simi would not support such a show in fact they stated the Irish public would have no interest in such an event....yes it would have been very well organised as this person has several years experence of organisation such events in the UK.
The media were all behind it but were not prepaired to go against Simi because of advertising sales. The event was origional planed for the year 2000 so nothing wrong with sales... sporship no problem The banks were in so were the oil, tyres, insurance, etc .....Simi just would not play ball....So driving public of Ireland aske Simi????

About SIMI

SIMI is the official voice of the motor industry in Ireland. The Society represents the views of the the industry to the government, state bodies, the media and the motoring public. With over 1600 member companies, SIMI represents all sectors of the industry, including: Vehicle Distributors, Main Dealers, Petrol and Oil Companies, Wholesalers, Motor Factors, Retailers and Vehicle Recovery Operators.

So they are the "official" voice of the people that said they would back it....

Sounds about right...

If your friend comes up with any ideas on getting this moving give us a shout. This is something I'd like to see.

On a similar note this year marked the first year that we had a
Irish Motorcycle Show (http://www.irishmotorbikeshow.com) Which was such a success it's on again next year.

But then the biker communities have always pulled together to promote themselves. I think the car people are under the impression they don't have to make the effort anymore. Maybe they will go the way of the Celtic Tiger???
