I've just heard that Michelin, who return to F1 next season, are contemplating manufacturing different coloured tyres. This, apparently, will instantly make their tyres easily distinguishable from their competitor Bridgestone. There is even talk that they will colour code the tyres for each team. So with Williams and Jaguar already signed up, it looks like green and blue will be the first coloured tyres in F1.

It’s a good thing that BAR don't have their dual livery like last year then, isn’t it! ;)

The idea of having different coloured tyres sounds a bit daft to me. I’d imagine it would make the cars less detailed looking, as the wheels would blend in with the colour of the bodywork. Also, wouldn’t having different coloured tyres affect the level of heat and in turn effect the level of grip, as the black tyres are bound to heat up fractionally more then a brighter colour?

I'd say that's exactly why they don't want Prost signed up! Its interesting to hear that Williams will be the main tester of Michelins during the winter, and will so influence their development. Its surely a huge advantage for Williams over the other future Michelin users.

Remember the last time Williams got Tyres earlier than anyone else was when Villenuve was with them and after pre season testing they changed the tyre and the dynamics of the car were arseways once they (Bridgestone I think) changed something with the Tyres .. will they learn form their prior mistakes ??

The only reason Iasked about Lump of Lard is that normally french companies are fairly patriotic like that ..
