View Full Version : help... hesitation during acceleration
Hi I am experiencing really bad hesitation during acceleration. It feels like the car is coughing (possibly misfire?) until I hit 4000RPM. After that, it runs like a champ. Can anyone direct me into which I should look into, to diagnose this problem?
I've tried some minor things like changing my oil, replaced the ignition coil, and replaced the spark plugs. All with proper pieces, and next on my agenda is air filter and fuel filter and possibly new wires... or could it be something else? Thanks.

Have your timing checked. It sounds like a common timing problem. That's where I woulch check first. Try a higher grade of gasoline as well. That may help your engine perform better. You'd probably have to spend close to a buck a liter on gas with today's prices ;)
oop, I forgot to mention I already retarded my ignition timing back to stock setting. It was advanced a couple degrees before and had no problems until now. I retarded it back the same amount I advanced it and the problem hasn't gone away...
I would also like to add, that I used a fuel injection cleaner fuel additive a week before this started to happen. I don't see if this could pose the problem. But yeah, I don't know...

Well, I still suggest you have the timing checked and adjusted accurately to factory settings.
Fuel injector cleaner wouldn't cause that I don't think. But do try a higher octane gasoline and see if it helps the situation.
Oh yeah, I used 91 octane fuel.

Did it help the situation at all?
still the same... I'll have it checked professionally and adjusted :)

That's a good idea HPR! I believe that will fix your problem, for the most part anyways...
