Vauxhall Omega whining noise

Have a 1999 Vauxhall Omega 2.0GLS thats developed a high pitched whining noise when the car is started. Only seems to happen when the engine is cold and lasts for roughly about 2-3 minutes and disappears. Seems to be coming from the front right hand side of the engine but not sure from what part.
Its annoying more than anything else and was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or knows what it is?

See if any belts are located in that area of the engine where you are hearing the noise from.

Chances are, it's just a sticky belt. If so, you can get a product called "Belt Dressing". It's a spray can and you just apply it to the belt(s) as the engine is runnig. That'll fix the nosie in most cases.
