Its been rumoured that Salo has been offered a 4 year contract with Toyota. Even though his contract with Sauber runs for another year, Toyota apparently are willing to pay off his contract. Toyota won't enter F1 until 2002, so if Salo does join, his initial year will solely involve development and testing of their new F1 car. The deal is said to be worth $6m a year to Salo. Can't really see him turning down an opportunity to work with a major player like Toyota, and anything has to be better than Sauber http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/sick.gif.

Well if the rumour turns out to be true, then I'd imagine that Salo will jump at a golden opportunity like that. Now I wonder will he be the main driver? Will Toyota try to poach another experienced driver, or go for a promising young rookie? Either way, its about time that the sport got more competitive. After all, there are currently only two teams that rule the sport, McLaren and Ferrari. Now with the likes of Toyota's entry and Renaults return, F1 should become a better viewers sport. I hope so anyway, as its seriously needed.
