I'm considering bringing a car in from Holland and I'm wondering if there is a company or individual who could ship it in for me. Any ideas?

Take a read of this import thread (http://forums.eforecourt.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1107) and see what you think. Kartman said he could import cars to order. You could always try to contact him to see what he can do for you.
Let us know if you have any luck importing for less, or even what he has to say on the subject.
Hmmm, importing cars.....
I should like a bit of info on that too...got something in mind but have absolutely no idea how to go about it....

Again it all depends on what type of car you want. A high spec Merc / BMW etc can be imported for less, or so Kartman has said. I also remember reading an article about this topic a few years back and it said that about €1200 or so could be saved on the likes of a Toyota Avensis. So there must be savings to be had; its just a matter of weighing up the costs and making arrangements to have the car shipped over. Kartman would be the one to contact if more info is required in this respect.
If its an older classic car (or perhaps even bikes!) you are looking for, then I'm sure Paul Kanters (see Retromobiles forum) can point you in the right direction. This is his line of business and he is well regarded at what he does. We also have a new moderator on that form, namely Beetlejuice, who should also know some contacts or be able to point you in the right direction.
Let us know if you need any further assistance in contacting these people, and good luck with the research!

It is a classic I'm thinking of and I'm now in touch with Paul.
Thanks WhipLash.

Great! Let us know how you get on with the purchase. I’m sure Paul can source you a good example of any model you have your eye on. And don't forget to mention that we sent you his way – haven’t heard from him in a while...

Hello all,
Just found this thread and wanted to ask a stupid question.
I am migrating from Australia to Ireland. i have a 2002 Honda CRV 4WD. I am looking into shipping it with my personal items to ireland. From what I have read I do not need to pat the VRT as I have owned the car for over 6 months and migrating to Ireland.
Once landed in Ireland I have more problems. Firstly the model sold in Australia come with a 2.4 litre engine where Irish models have a 2.0 liter engine. I understand that the insurance will be more due to the engine size - but will I have other charges due to the car not being standard in Ireland.
Love to hear from anyone who can help me out on this. Not sure wether to ship the car to ireland or just buy one in EIRE and pay through the nose ?
Thanks
Andy from Downunder.
