93 mondeo overheating

i have a 93 2.0glx mondeo and have the problem of the engine overheating all the time. i have relpaced the exhaust and thermostat switch but the problem is still there. i have also noticed that the water boils almost immediatly and turns browny black when it overflows. is this the head basket???
if so, how much does it cost to fix?
i love this car and want to sort it - please help

Either the head gasket, or you have a severe case of blockage which is unlikely if you say the coolant turns brown.

Examine some of the coolant and see if it smells like engine oil, or has other symptoms of engine oil mixing with it.

We don't have that model over here, but I assume it is a Ford vehicle? If so, I don't see it far from logic that the head gasket is gone.
