Hi, have a Vauxhall Omega 1999 2.0gls that had a problem with the engine revving and cutting out when it got warm. Took off and cleaned the Idle control valve and the throttle body and this seems to have cured the problem of the engine stalling but I'm still getting the revs shoot up when I dip the clutch to stop.
At normal idle the revs stand at 1000 rpm but after the engine has warmed and you dip the clutch to stop in traffic they shoot up to about 3000rpm even though I'm stopped, before slowly coming down to the norm again.
Is this something to do with the throttle cable sticking?
Any help would be appeciated.

when i first started reading your post I never thought of it, but near the end you mentioned the throttle cable sticking...
I personally can't think of another reason off the top of my head, that's the usual suspect. You will most probably need to completely change it. Not that it's a big job, but at any rate worth trying before you go any further.

Good luck
