Please advise, I have a 94 Subaru 2.0L and the turbo doesn't kick in. I haven't been able to find anyone who knows anything about Subaru's in Galway. Can someone advise as to what the problem might be and if its something that can be fixed down south. Have also been told that there is a guy in Dungannon that knows alot about Subaru's is there anyone else in Connacht or in Mid-Ireland that could help??? Thanks

Could be one of a number of things.
The smallest being a blown gasket which is stopping the turbo getting enough exhaust gas to spool up (does the car sound any louder than before?).
The largest is a knackered turbo, which would be expensive and time consuming to put right.
Fingers crossed for you that it's something small.

Thanks Huw, it doesn't sound any different but the kick is definitely not there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't going to be expensive also.

Hi, just saw your query after posting my hideous problem..
I own a Subaru 94 L too. I sometimes get a lack of turbo boost, which I suspect is a misfire. I think I need to change my plugs in the next service. However, I have a friend that suggested to me that fitting a boost guage is a cheap way to find out whether or not you have turbo problems or its something else.
I only know this as I was worried that my turbo was playing up due to the laggy feel I sometimes get.
Also try checking out the subaru Faq

There is quite a bit of useful info there...

thanks Jason I'll certainly look into getting the boost gauge and will also check out the website.
