Just the other day I was contacted by somebody who was offering a car for sale that had been sitting in his dad's shed over the last 25 years, and he now wanted to get rid of it. The car was still driving and in a reasonable conditon. It was a 1962 LHD Opel Rekord, which is a very unusual car to come across here I would think.
I always very much like the "barn find" sections in the Classic Car magazines, and I always wonder what treasures are still buried over here in peoples sheds and barns? What do you, or your parents still have stitting in the back of the shed, slowly decomposing, or maybe meticulously maintained by the rightfull owners? Or what car did you once own and you are now kicking youself for having scrapped or sold?

Hi Paul,
Yes the "Barn Finds" and "Discovered" sections make extremely interesting reading. If I ever won the lotto I'd simply go on a tour of the country, then the world in search of these treasures.
The guy I used to work for, a main Opel dealer here in Dublin, bought a 1960 Opel Rekord for the showroom. The car was a one owner car, column shift, black with about 60,000 miles on it.It was originally sold by Crawfords and still had the rear window sticker on it. He also bought a '63 Viva at roughly the same time ('86/87).
Unfortunately the two cars never made it to the showroom, as the garage was extended and we were always short on space. I used to drive the two cars from time to time and the black Rekord was in very good condition and was a real head turner.
Once again the garage came in for some building surgery and then we moved site. The cars went to a bodyshop who had a bit of "outdoor" storage space. I was last there about 12 months ago and they had somewhat succumbed to the forces of Irish weather, and were in a sad state. I believe they are still there and could probably be saved, although the owner wouldn't part with them before, he might do so now, if anyone was interested.
