Hi All,

Some one decided to break into my car over the weekend - don't know why as it has a big steering wheel lock, an imobaliser, car alarm, red flashy light on the dash and stickers on the window saying it was alarmed - but anyway.
The door lock barrel on the passanger side is fecked (but thankfully that was the only damage done and nothing was taken) and I have decided that I don't need keys to get into my car as it has remote central locking and I want to get rid of both locks so this can't be done again.
What I wanted to know is how do I go about this? It's a '93 honda import so would I try honda to see if they have door handles that don't have outside door locks or would I need to take it to a body shop to have the exisiting door locks removed and have the space where they are filled in?
Does anyone know what my best bet is and where to go to get the work done?
Also, is it silly to just depend on the remote central locking (a flat battery on the fob springs to mind) and what are my alternatives?
Thanks again guys,

JD.

Phil

Hi Jdwals,

Not sure how much damage was done, but have you thought of just getting the keyholes filled?

Little feckers who can't walk anymore :evilangel tried to break into my brothers car. They made ****e of the lock by sticking a screw driver into the keyhole. He's thinking of filling in the locks as he uses the alarm to unlock and lock the car.

Not sure what you do when the battery goes dead and you can't get into your car. :)

Anways. must ask him what he was thinking of using to fill the locks.. Have to wait till he gets back from vegas... that if he ever comes back.

Thanks Phil. It seems there was a lot of attempts to break into cars last weekend. I found out yesterday that one of my friends had his toyota corrolla broken into sunday morning (8am - what kind of criminal is up at that hour?) but thankfully no damage and nothing taken. He knows a guy whose Mitsubishi Colt was done on Saturday night and a guy in work has a friend whose Prelude was tried twice on Saturday night.
I am still not sure of getting the lock filled in. I mean, why not just break the window and open the door that way - it's faster and has the same effect? And the battery thing would be a problem as well, and knowing me it would happen in pissing rain in the middle of nowhere - c'est la vie.....
