Hi, I recently purchased a 1999 Audi A4 which I am very happy with apart from a niggly little electrical problem. The car has a window closure system built into the locking/anti theft system, however on occasion the passenger window opens after the locking/anti theft system is activated via the remote. This doesn't happen very often but, as you can imagine, it is a bit concerning.
I appreciate that maybe this is a problem for an Audi technician but I wondered if someone here may have any ideas or encountered a similar problem before.

Hi Cliff,
I'd ask you whether you live in a damp area, but I believe this is beyond moisture. Being a 1999 it's a fairly new car so that shouldn't be an issue whatsoever. What I can suggest is that the relay that controls the behavior of the passenger side window, may be faulty in a best case scenario. If it's not that, then I'd probably check the anti-theft control module. That may be the culprit.
Also, is there a button on your remote that can roll windows up and down?

Thanks for your help. There is a button on the remote that opens the windows but normally only with the key turned in the door lock. Maybe I will get the relay checked out. Thanks again.

You're very welcome. I just thought maybe if there's a button on the remote that opens the windows, then it *may* be shorted somehow?
