Year 2000 Renault Grand Espace dashboard has started to flash - the whole dashboard flashes.
Seems to do it when car is cold, or when air con is turned on - after a while when the cab temperature has dropped the dash start to flash.
Its Ok if the car has been sat in sun or when it has warmed up.
Local renault mani dealer has spent two hours (£130) - diagnosing problem and still can't decide if it is a dash fault or a coumputer (UCH?) fault.
Can't say how much longer it will take to diagnose fault (£££)

Yes.
Remember this when you come to buy a new car!
If you buy another Renault, you'll essentially be letting them get away with selling unreliable cars and charging large amounts of money to put them right.
Unfortuantely modern car electronics are way above the level of most home mechanics like me, so I can't really offer you any practical advice on solving this mess.

Not to throw more fuel at the fire, but it may be a ubiquitous issue among Renault products. I did a searche and found a few posts on other forums like the following:
My neighbour has a '91 R19 and it has failed its Car Test due to the dash indicator lights flashing together, although the indicators are working correctly. From time to time, all dash lights go bright/dim. He took it to an Auto Electrician...no good ! Help, Please?????
There was a few more like this one, but this seems the closest to the problem you have. You may want to bring this to their attention, they may even issue a recall as a result. I mean usually manufacturers don't like to take responsibility but if there's enough complaints, you may get lucky.

John,
I own a 2000 Renault Espace,
which has the same Dashboard problem as yours.
It started flashing this month September 2004.
It now doesn't display at all and the central locking is not working.
I've booked the car in for a fix, and I am now concerned having read your posting because I also feel Renault won't have a clue !!
I don't mind paying for something which has clearly broken and has a fixed price; but this problem seems very unpredictable.
Did you reach a solution with Renault ?
Maybe its a cable ?
Regards
