Ford Fiesta

hi,I have a ford fiesta and every time i press the brake pedal the front lights come on as well as the brake lights and when i take out one of the brake light bulbs the front lights don't come on when braking! does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this problem? cheers

As always with electrical problems there is a variety of possibilities but the most likely are probably

1 Faulty bulb or bulbs (or inserted wrong way round?) brake bulbs.
2 Poor earth connection at rear lights (very likely). Does it make any difference if only 1 brake bulb is in at any time. If so earth is likely to be on the side that plays up. If not sure about the earth I would suggest running an extra short earth lead from the earth connection of the bulb holder to a nearby bolt etc.
3 Faulty brake light switch.
