Got a prob with my Fiesta its a 98 16V 1.2L Zetec.

When I try to stick her into Reverse It sometimes wont go into gear.
Basically it freels like the gear is blocked. If I then go into first or apply a little excelleration it goes into Reverse no bother
Brought it to teh garage and they said there is nothing wrong which i think is a load of crap.

it's an intermittent problem. if she's left sitting a while it can happen but there's no bloody pattern. Garage said they put her on the ramp and adjusted the gears, but it made no improvement. they recomended that if it happened I shift into First and second and it should be ok. if not just leave teh clutch in for 5 - 10 seconds.

I have been doing a hell of a lot more driving, 5000 miles or so in the last 4 months.

the only other gear problem is if I'm shifting from 2nd into 1st coming to a stop sometimes it wont go into first. that doesn't bother me too much but maybe it's related.

I've found that if I apply a little gas it slips into gear no problem.

try the simple things first.
adjust your clutch, it sounds as though its dragging

Depending on the mileage, I'd guess worn synchro on reverse.

Double declutching when engauging reverse should be a way of making the problem liveable with.

on the ford cars built after 1990 they put a crap rig on the adjustment of the clutch cable it works on a ratchet built on to the pedal in the car,and they are prone to buggering up.have you heard any clicking sounds from the pedal area.

I've been hearin a click alright, but it's from the break pedal (or I assumed it was coz I hear it ocasionally when I use the break).

The cas has about 58000 miles on her. I know I've put a hell of a lot on in the last month or so, over 1000, and a lot of it is city driving

I would get your head under the there and have a look, it might be the ratchet or it could be worn bushes, because if i remember correctly all three pedals are sat on the same bar, you will see if you have a look. hope i was of some help :)
