Self Service on a VW Golf 1994

How difficult would it be to perform a basic service on a VW Golf 1.4 1994. I've got the Filters and the Sparks.

I'm gonna get a machanic to change the Oil and have a look at the Brakes.

For the two above I paid €39.95 is this a fair price of could I have gotten them somewhere else cheaper.

Looking for a basic Manual for my Golf anyone got any recommendations? Any online manuals or tutorials on how to change the above?

Any help appreciated.

No idea of prices in Ireland, so can't help you there.

As for a manual .... splash out on the Haynes Manual for your car (about £15 or so over here in the UK).

If your getting a mechanic to check brakes and oil, you may as well give him the filters and plugs to fit as well. My mechanic changes plugs while he is waiting for oil to drain out of an engine.
