Hi everyone.

I regularly keep my car waxed to help make it easier to keep clean. But there seems to be a down side.

Early morning dew.

Because the wax protects the car from water, you end up with water droplets all over the car, which turn to brown specs as they dry. So you end up with a dirty car without leaving the driveway. :(

Then in winter time the whole car freezes up because dew forms on the car. So when I come out to my car in winter mornings, the whole car is frozen up, where the neighbours cars might have ice just on their windscreen.

Is there anyway around this? I want still protect my car without having to come out to a ice cube in winter.

Please help.

Hi everyone. Am I on my own here, or has this happened to anyone else?

Have you come across this problem in the past, Brian?

You know I actually typed up a response to this the other night but accidentally turned off the PC before posting it! :freak:

To answer the query, I don't really have a perfect solution. If you don't like water beading on the car because it increases the water spots, maybe a long-term sealant would be more suitable. Water sheets off this rather than beading on it. Morning dew isn't usually dirty, but now and then we do get sahara dust in the rain and there is no avoiding it.

In winter, don't worry - your neghbours are as susceptible to ice as you are. Perhaps their house shelters the driveway more or their cars aren't waxed so you get a thin film of ice instead of frozen beads. The only perfect solution is a canopy or car cover. I would prefer the protection of the wax.
