Lucy Pinder, Michelle Marsh, Jerri Byne and Jo Hicks! are all Daily Star
Page 3 girls and recognised household names. The girls will attend
'OVERDRIVE' in one of their first appearances in Ireland.
Drifting
One of the main attractions will be the 'Drifting Arena', which will be
located on the International loop, offering many excellent vantage points
for spectators. Drifting requires drivers to drive the circuit while
'drifting' the tail of the car, the aim being to keep the tail of the car
in a slide for an entire lap of a circuit that includes a number of
changes of direction as well as long straights. The Opt drift club will be
sending over 7 of there top drivers for this event. These drivers are very
experienced drifters and all compete in the UK D1 Championships. They will
be bringing over such cars as Nissan Skyline GTR, Two Nissan 200sx S15 and
4 Nissan 200sx S14. They will be competing against Ireland best drivers on
the day so will be very entertaining to watch!!!
Drag Sprint & Road-Race Run Off
OVERDRIVE will give owners of modified cars a unique opportunity to try
their cars performance out on the Mondello track. The Drag sprint will
pitch drivers and their cars against each other over a short 'drag' race
to decide who has the top modified car in a number of categories. Just how
fast are the current crop of modified cars, here's a chance for owners to
find out. The top ten cars from the drag sprint will be given the
opportunity to try their car out against the best that Motorsport has to
offer in the 'Road-Race Run Off'.
Kieran O' Neill
For anyone who doesn't know who Kieran is, Kieran is the most entertaining
man in Irish Rallying ever. Kieran drives a 1977 Opel Kadett GT/E which is
powered by a 2.0L 16V Vauxhall engine which can produce 220 bhp and can
match any Ford Escort MkII in the same class on both performance and
entertainment. Kieran will be special guest on the day judging the
drifting competition and also displaying with the help of his pit crew how
to drift in a rally car. He will of course show the D1 drivers a thing or
two!
Autotest Demonstration
Autotesting is driving specially modified cars through a pre determined
course defined by cones. Competitors compete against the clock but must
not touch the cones or stray from the course in order to avoid time
penalties being added. The skill of the drivers is second to none and it
comes as no surprise to find out that this is where Russ Swift started!!
Karting Challenge
Indoor Karting is great fun, but what about the opportunity to drive
Mondello Park's twin engined Pro Karts on part of our race track Great
enjoyment for all visitors on the day!
