I was just talking to a guy from work a few minutes ago and he was telling me he was buying a new Opel Astra 1.4XE 5Door for £14,700.Now I happen to know a bit about the price of them as I have the same version except mine's a saloon and I got mine for £100 less than this.I checked up the price of the car he wants here at this site and its listed at £13,985.The dealer then organised finance for him which ended up being only £6 less than my loan even though he's getting nearly £1.5K less of a loan than I did.He has yet to sign anything but I showed him the price listings from this site and a couple of loan calculators from different financial institutions on the net eg.AIB,BOI etc. and all in all he's being done out of nearly 2 grand at the end of the day. What's the general experience everyones had with dealers here. Are they always out to screw you?

Don't forget dealers add in extra charges like PDI, plates etc to the standard charge(except for Fiat & Alfa Romeo). If you're comparing loans, you should be looking at the 'cost per thousand'. If it's not quoted, ask them for that figure.
