Eircom yesterday announced that is would be reducing their broadband rates from €54 to €40 per month. :D
Additionally the wholesale rate that Eircom sells onto other operators is to be reduced from €27 to €23 per month.
It's certainly a step in the right direction for the consumer in Ireland. However, even at €40 per month, I feel that Eircom will not meet their target of signing up 100,000 broadband users by the end of the year (they claim to already have 35,000).
Perhaps if the charge was €20 per month and the ridicules transfer limit of 4GB a month  were scrapped then they'd succeed, or even far surpass this target. Otherwise I feel that they are being way too optimistic.
Any thoughts?
