The first raid by the BSA was executed recently. Brightpoint Ireland Ltd, of Western Business Park in Dublin, was raided after the BSA has been tipped off that the company was engaged in end-user software piracy. The BSA was granted a civil search order by the Dublin High Court, and it is the first civil raid carried out by the BSA in Ireland, though a large criminal raid was undertaken last year and settled out of court. The search order involved is called an Anton Piller order, and it empowers the civil authority named to seize materials from the firm. The court case arising from the raid will be heard on June 26.

Sounds like exciting action all right. The sheriff and his posy ride into town with their flag of justice flying high. Its an uphill battle for them though, and a steep one at that. The problem with offices such as the BSA is that they're always understaffed and under financed to take on the job properly. A typical Irish solution as ever.
