Its interesting to see that all employees of Gateway are to receive a free PC. They can choose any system between £650 and £1,600, with no payments required. What they must do, however, is that the free PC must be paid off with a promised length of service. So the more expensive the PC you choose, the longer you must stay an employee to pay it off. I’m not sure how they could enforce this though if some were to leave before their time was up.

They could always chase after them with baseball bats :) And when the catch them they could drag them into a dungeon where they spend the last of their life working on Macs!!! Haha :D
I think it's a great idea and certainly promotes staff loyalty - I bet it won't work in the long term and you probably have to work your whole life and sign your childrens life to the agreement to pay it all back.
It'll probably increase the amount of times staff ring in "sick" so they can finish their favourite games.
Maybe Gateway are looking at introducing a full teleworking facility including free computer!
Didn't Intel make a similar offer to all their employees a while ago?
Somehow I don't think it would stop people from accepting better offers elsewhere. After all, these days its hard cash that talks, and then the employee walks.
