Smart Telecom are offering the first 100,000 broadband customers quite a good offer. 2MB Broadband connection + free line rental all for €35 a month.
Considering the current Eircom monthly line rental costs almost €24, this amounts to Broadband for only €11 a month!
Any catch? Well the only thing is that you also sign up for their voice services, plus you get charged via monthly direct debit. The other thing that you may want to consider is that the download speed is 128k. It's also a 12 month contract.
As far as I can see their voice rates are competitive enough compared with Eircom – currently they match Eircom's Gold rates on local/national calls, which is a good enough start. International calls are considerably cheaper too. Calling another Smart customer equates to a free 60 minute call, day or night (if > 60 minutes you simply drop the call and re-dial for another 60 mins, most useful for the other half ;) )
You can check your phone number (http://www.smarttelecom.ie/products/broadband/step1.htm) to see when your area will be available.
Seems like a very sound offer so far anyhow. Anyone sign up yet?
