As if we weren't paying enough road tax, VRT, petrol tax etc for the right to motor, but I see that profits after tax for the NTR (National Toll Roads) have increased by a margin of 13.2 per cent to 14.8 million Euro's!. West-Link traffic volumes rose by 11.1 to 23.3 million vehicles in 1999 on the previous year, while traffic volumes at East-Link grew by 2.6 per cent to 7.5 million vehicles. Commercial traffic grew by 7.6 per cent in the reporting year.
I thought these tolls were only in duration to pay for expense of being built. Shouldn't they be gone by now? At this stage the Irish motorist is simply lining the pockets of these investors. I don't know, when will it all end?
