View Full Version : Age?
Are there any grown-ups on this forum? There's a distinct lack of pipe and slippers happening here :)

Mr. Ivan Meldrew, perhaps you should go and use some Grecian 2000, rid yourself of that cardie, swap the glasses for contact lenses and loose about 2 stone. I think you'll fit in quite nicely then ;)

What is the general age group of the forum?
Somewhere between 20-40 I'd say.
Would that be correct
I'd say abot the same as was uncovered in the great MotorWeb survey!

Astra-Man I like the age group there .. basically cover all age groups .. why not say the average age is between 18 - 50 ??
lol .. seems to me that eforecourt is for the more vibrant poster ... so c'mon Anders and Mr. Power add some aged wisdom ..
:)
I'd like to see more Women.
Also their opinion in this forum to maybe? :p
Those phucking smilies bug me too, they're all over the shop. Is this a forum or competition for stupidest smilie???

I think we all agree with you on that one Toad.Ivan what's wrong with a few smilies.
You sound like one of those guys that goes around with a big thick head on him everyday wondering what the rest of the world has to be so happy about. :D
Not at all Astra, I'm much worse than that :)

In my never humble opinion, smilies are for people who can't express themselves properly. If it's funny, why litter the message with annoying smilies?

At last Anders I've found the first thing we disagree on ;)
Now you see the above statement is sarcastic, but one wouldn't know that only for the winky smilie. Doesn't that disprove your theory?

Nope. If you do your job right I should understand that it's sarcasm, which I did by the way. Putting the stupid smiley there just ruins the joke. It's like having to explain the joke.
It has to be said that I once wrote a message about supporting tree huggers, limiting the speed on all roads to 40mph, and suggesting that the existing lane on the N11 should be converted to a bus lane, and it seemed everyone thought I was serious. In that case I think the problem lied with the readers, because that was the most sarcastic message I have written in a very long time. The fact that many people misunderstood me just added to the satisfaction of having written the message.
The reality of the situation is that people are able to convey humour and sarcasm in a written form in books, magazines, and newspapers without resorting to smilies. This has been possible for about 500 years too.

Well of course you'd get it Anders, that's because you know me (electronically, of course). But for those who don't, it works quite well. Also, IMHO it adds life and colour to the post, its a good deal better then pure black and white print. But maybe one needs to have a good sense of humour to see that, and that’s certainly one thing Swedes are not renowned for.
