hey

this is my first post here, and im pretty much a novice when it comes mopeds too, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

have a little moped (gilera 49cc), was getting on fine, but was in a bad crash today.. driver of car coming towards me turned left as i was going straight on, so i went straight into it. thankfully not too too badly hurt, could be worse, will heal. but my poor little bike was not as lucky. (am distraught, think i love it more than i love my boyfriend;))

i don't know if it's worth getting it fixed, i will bring it (push it!) to the garage tomorrow of course, and see what the mechanic says. the girl who was driving the car took complete responsibility as she drove right across in front of me, so there is no real problem in that regard. but, what im wondering is, if it's not worth getting it fixed, what do i do with it?? i was considering selling it soon anyway. is there some sort of scrap yard that would take it, or somewhere i could sell it for scrap or parts or something? any advice would be really really welcome.. thanks a million:)

Same thing happened to me once. But as I was on a Goldwing the other car actually came off worse....

Assuming you're in Dublin you might try City Spares on Francis St. You can try to call them on (01) 453-2060. They seem to have odd hours so if you get no answer, keep trying.

If you are elsewhere in the country, let me know and I'll see what I can find for ya.

hey friz

thanks a million for your reply. yup i am in dublin at the moment, northside. i will give that place in francis st a ring. i presume they just take bikes off your hands though? it would be a shame to have to just give it up for nothing, but i guess these things happen...

They are a bike breakers. They'll probably give you some token amount. I've never sold anything to them. Bought a few item from them though.
