replace opel corsa steering wheel

hi I have just purchased a 1.4 1998 opel corsa left hand drive in spain.
The original steering wheel does not have an airbag.
can this steering be replaced with a steering wheel that does have an airbag and would it operate properly if a accident happened.

No.

An airbag system is a lot more than a steering wheel with an inflatable cushion hiding in it!

There are sensors which will gather data, and a electronic control unit that decides if the conditions are right to pop the airbag out.

Swapping the steering wheels over is likely to leave you with the equivalent of an unexploded bomb 3 feet infront of your chest, which may go off at any time! If you feel an airbag is such a necessity, sell your Corsa and buy one with an airbag.
