Sunday last I was out for a leisurely drive on the Shannon/Limerick dualcarraigeway doing about 80 to 90 mph on the outside lane when I heard this thunderous roar behind.I looked in the mirror to see a Vauxhall Nova behind me.Now there was a few cars on the inside lane which were travelling quite slowly so I decided to stay in the outside lane as was my right to do considering I was doing 90mph.Then to my amazement this little bucker behind me started flashing his lights at me and beeping his horn so I thought buck this I'm going to teach this little pr!ck a lesson and slowed down to the same speed as the cars on the inside lane. :D Your man in the souped up Nova appeared to going mental now as the flashing got more vigorous. He then got a space in the inside lane to try and pass me out on the inside but I boxed him in behind another car and basically kept him driving nice and slowly till the other car who your man was flashing as well pulled onto the hard shoulder.Anyway all in all I managed to hold him up for a good few minutes and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.This little c@nt seemed to be convinced he owned the road and that it was his God given right to do whatever he wanted just becaused he had a couple of spoilers and a big exhaust pipe on his 88 Nova.Anyone else have these kind of experiences with Boy Racers.

Astraman,
I think you are showing extraordinary levels of driving immaturity and in many respects your reaction is more dangerous than the boy racer.
By participating in boxing-in manouvres and deliverately provoking him, you introduced danger to a non-dangerous situation. Why not pull into the slow lane, let him go, and forget him ? Had there been police observation, you would both have been done for dangerous driving but I think you would have had the most severe charges.
In the first instance, doing 90 mph, your behaviour is anti-social, every bit as much as the "boy racer".
What if the guy was racing to the hospital, or other emergency ? Unlikely perhaps but who are you to judge or to decide you have a right to slow him down ?

My problem with him Michael was that him came up behind me right up my arse doing about 110mph flashing his lights and beeping furiously at me.Now in my opinion I had every right to be in the fast lane as I was exceeding the speed limit(which I know I shouldn't have been but everyone does occasionally). Now can you tell me why I should have to pull into the slow lane behind slower cars just to let this guy past me.All I did was slow to the legal limit and he tryed to pass me on the inside but got caught behind another car.How would I have been done for dangerous driving in this situation unless I was caught speeding.
Boy Racers is a common occurance on this particular road and he was travelling the opposite direction of the regional hospital so I hardly think he had a major emergency.
Even if he had driving like that was totally reckless. You say that I introduced danger to a non dangerous situation.Well do you consider that driving up someones arse at that kind of speed to be non dangerous. All I did was slow the guy down to a reasonable speed.
You're just as bad as the geezer in the Nova. Exceeding the limit is no reason not to pull in, what if you were doing 65 and he was doing 90?
You're ****ed off because somebody was going faster than you. I think the sooner people like you and Nova boy are put off the road the better.

Astraman, you act like a child http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/disgust.gif
All you managed to do was getting this pr1ck even more worked up, making an already dangerous driver even more so. If you need primal satisfaction, go home and shag your spouse instead http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/naughty.gif
That is, if you have one...

IMO anyone that drives one of those Novas isn’t a boy racer at all. I’d call them a sissy racer. Now if they wanted a descent drive, why not go and buy a jap import Prelude, second hand BMW 325, or maybe even try an EVO / Scooby. Then they’d evolve into a man racer. I say ban them all, the bucken fools. Just wait for the penalty points system, that’ll show em.

One has to ask the question what the feck where you doing sitting the outside lane if you weren't overtaking ??
You berate the Boy Racer for flashing you and demanding you get out of the overtaking lane so he could overtake ... so you the righteous asshole decided to play God, do you know what sort of fupping carnage you could have caused ???
Two stupid People + Speed = Death
That equation is simple don't try and play God with other Drivers lives ... the next time that Boy Racer meets you he may do the exact same to you .... Get a life ..

All of a sudden this guy comes out of nowhere flashing & beeping at you - there and then you realise "he was travelling the opposite direction of the regional hospital so I hardly think he had a major emergency" - therefore you proceeded to play cat and mouse with this Nova nuisance.
Logical, very logical.

Aman bet your sorry you mentioned this http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/smoke.gif
I to have met such people on the roads consting of a 205 1.4 & a Starlet (god help us) I was very nearly knocked off the road as the starlet cut right across me from the inside lane. very close to the car ahead in the inside lane. havin recovered from that shock I thought about "Boxing" him in. when his pal in the 205 (with Large backbox) came tearing up behind me. I just got f*^k outta his way. These guys think cause their in an car they are protected. They'll learn, the hard way I fear. http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/angryfire.gif
Basically don't add to their lunacy
Just let them go with the knowledge that you ARE the better more responsible driver. http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/disgust.gif

Astraman,
Boy have you got a mauling. I understand exactly what you were trying to do, however you did push the confrontation a little bit far. Next time, drive normally, pull over when you should and report the w**kers to the cops. If their behaviour is so outrageous do follow up. If nothing is done about these idiots some body bags will have to be produced to clear up the mess.

That's the whole point I was overtaking and this guy wasn't giving me a chance to get past a couple of cars which seriously ****ed me off.
Maybe I'm not getting the situation across to all of you properly as Toad is the only one that seems to understand what I mean.
I was in a hurry and doing a particularly high speed which I can add is not a regular occurence as I haven't ever got a ticket in 10 years on the road. This guy comes up behind me like a raving lunatic while I'm on the outside lane overtaking slower cars and expects me to slow right down and squeez in between 2 other cars in the inside lane just like that. You just can't hop in and out of lanes in front of other cars like that.
And yes Toad I am sorry I brought up this point.Anyone reading some of these replies which jump down my throat would swear that nothing has ever gotten up anyones nose in this forum.Everyday of the week you meet people doing speeds like 50mph in the fast lane that don't pull in and I get a load of Sh!te for not pulling while I was overtaking other cars at a speed which should be more than fast enough for anyone.

Hold on a second there Astra.
In your initial post you said that you were on a "leisurely drive.....doing about 80 to 90 mph on the outside lane". Now, right there and then you are sending out the wrong message, as I don't believe the words "leisurely" and "80 to 90 mph" should ever appear in the same sentence when talking about driving on Irish roads. Why? For 2 reasons. One, the state of our roads (even our motorways) leave a lot to be desired. And
two, because there are way too many bad drivers, lunatic drivers, learner drivers, etc., etc. to be able to do so in a safe fashion.
To be honest, most evenings I come across the sort of behaviour you experienced from Mr. Nova on my way home, and the urge to put them in their place always rears its head. But then you realise that it's not worth it. That, and the fact that my wife is usually in the car with me, and I'd much prefer to stay in her good books than get even with some young pup usually keeps me in check. (Oh yeah, one other thing, I drive a 1.0 Polo, so usually I'm not even in the fast lane to begin with!!) :)

All I do honestly see your points and do agree with them, its just that this guy brought out the road rage in me http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/angryfire.gif and sur don't we all get a bit ****ed off sometimes.
By the way I see my posts are being censored.
What's the story there Mike surely we can say ****ed off. These smilies are obviously your work Whippy and come in quite handy.

If anybody comes up behind me flashing their lights and beeping their horn.........I let them past!! No matter what speed I'm doing, end of!
If on the other hand I arrive behind somebody and I'm doing 90 and they're doing 70, I flash them if the inside is clear for them......if they don't move over after one or at the most two flashes then I calm down and resign myself to the fact that I'm BEHIND them for a while!!
Becos,
that's one thing that annoys me I quite often travel on the M11 And always com accross someone doing 60 in the outside lane..& not another car in sight
WHY???WHY???WHY???

Oh look... my fav subject.....
Right. Let me rip Astraman into pieces... lets see now....

quote:
Sunday last I was out for a leisurely drive on the Shannon/Limerick dual carraigeway doing about 80 to 90 mph

Oh dear.... leisurely drive doing 80-90? Oh dear... travelling at that speed you need to concentrate, and lots of it.

quote:
Now there was a few cars on the inside lane which were travelling quite slowly so I decided to stay in the outside lane as was my right to do considering I was doing 90mph.

Huh? Your right to do so? Do you have a small penis or something? It's a fact that when driving on a motorway or dual carriageway I usually sit on 100mph but even at that speed I don't have the right to be in the fast lane (or whatever you want to call it), I simply stay in that lane as it saves lots of lane changing. However, if someone does catch me up, and is driving faster than I am, then I simply move over. I save the racing for the Go-Kart track.

quote:
Then to my amazement this little bucker behind me started flashing his lights at me and beeping his horn

But he's going faster than you! He wants past! Is that a crime? You must really have a small penis.

quote:
so I thought buck this I'm going to teach this little pr!ck a lesson and slowed down to the same speed as the cars on the inside lane.

LOL! And you have the nerve to call him a pr1ck... LOL
What you done was downright dangerous you moron.

quote:
This little c@nt seemed to be convinced he owned the road and that it was his God given right to do whatever he wanted

Hold on... didn't you say earlier you have the god given right to be in the fast lane and not move 'cos you were doing 90??
You also stated in your inital post that you were out for a leisurely drive but later on say you were in a hurry.
You one one confused fcuked up halfwit.

I didn't mean that I had the right to stay there just that while I was in the process of overtaking slower cars I had. Most people out there regardless of their speed,if they come up behind a car overtaking give other people a reasonable chance to get past a few cars before they pull in.
You say you usually sit on 100mph & you have the cheek to call me a F*cked Up Halfwit.
You also seem very worried about penis size,is this something which afflicts your *** life and eats away at you everyday.Do all the girls laugh at you when they see you.

If his lordship had been observed by the members of the Garda Siochana, a summons would have been issued. The following court session would see the judge not taking accout of Astramans now legal speed but rather the fact that he was endangering other peoples lives. The fine would be heavy!
Sorry man, I know how you feel about guys coming up your ar$s flashing cause they dont want to hit the brekes. Okay so you were overtaking, that's allowed and the so-and-so should have more patience! But he doesn't! So take your time when overtaking, but don't box him in next time:
1. What if the guy is also a phsychopathic killer
2. What if the guy's got a heavy dose of roadrage?
3. What if he starts nudging you cause he's on a socalled joyride and doen't care about the car he'sknocked of or about yours either?
(Call that a paranoid scenario? Have you been listening to the news?)
Anyway take the smothest path, be Zen, let it go, GROW UP

I have come to the conclusion your Honour that in the above written statement that I was out of order and guilty of dangerous driving.I would like to apologise to the court and say that my behaviour was totally out of character and can sincerly say that it won't happen again as due to some councelling from a few of the above named I have seen the light(praise the lord). http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/clown1.gif
