My God this is one ugly brute http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/sick.gif See Autocar this week. It looks like a Daewoo! Not that I have anything against Daewoo, but you know the way Koreans tend to get the luxobarge look wrong by slapping chrome around a sad face, well now they've been out Koreaned by BMW.Well done BMW, another great styling step forward taken by everyone else. I shall have to respond by declining to buy one ;). I do hope BMW have registered my similar protest about the Z3 and its mutant offspring the Z3 coupe, which is as pretty as the Reliant Scimitar.

And what about the new Morgan Aero 8. Is it my imagination or is it fashioned as if it has already hit a tree and those odd lights are looking inward in a cross eyed manner as a result of a frontal impact

I think performance cars should be ugly and full of menace and drama (TVR Speed Twelve, Lamborghini Diablo-what a marvelous name)
or engineered and elegant (Porsche Boxster, Audi TT) or just purposeful and devoid of any style (Subaru Impreza) or else beautiful and Italian or just quirky and Italianesque (Ferarri 348 GTB, Fiat Coupe, Peugot 406 Coupe, Alfa GTV). So how are people building aberrations like the Aero 8 or the new Jensen or my favourite Ugleecar, the Z3?

Any other performance car nominations for inappropriate/wrongfully ugly styling?

IMO the Morgan 8 is a most beautiful car. It just leaves me in total awe. Now if only I has a few more thousand to spare ;) But I agree with you Justin on the Z series BMW. What the hell are the designers on here? Not only does it look sh1te, it's slow and it handles like muck too – a total hairdressers car if ever there was one. Another step backward design wise is the newest model Honda Prelude. This one looks totally boxy, kind of like an American car. Where did all those lovely curves go? And I'm not sure that the likes of the Mits Evo and Scooby work for me either. They're all like normal saloons with extra scoops, spoilers and big alloys thrown on (except for the performance, of course).

I'm lost. 7-series and other ugly performance cars? Since when is the 7-series a performance car?

The only car that matters in this class is the S-class. If the S-class is beaten, that's it.

I am pleased to see that after some 15 years BMW has decided to come up with a different interior.

Well a 740i with 286 bhp is quite brisk. Actually, I quite like the stock 15yr old BMW interior, and the new one looks a little too contrived in the "quick, lets put lots of aluminium in there like everyone else rather than think of something new" model.

The Morgan beautiful? OK from the front, but from (say) 45 degrees, it looks as if it has hit a tree!. The lights point inwards.I'm not kidding, they do.

I like the Z3 Coupe (2.8) ,
The 7 series is the biggest waste of time & money ever. the 5 is much better .
Short & sweet

Anders please explain the remark about the S-Class Merc!

The last one I drove had just about the worst handling imaginable. And then in the wet! Man what a dog! http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/sick.gif

The other evening I wrote about the longest message I have ever written in this particular thread, but the forum software refused to let me post it. That has kinda sucked my motivation to try to formulate something intelligent again.

Did you drive the most recent S-class? You appear to also confuse these types of cars with performance cars, which they are not.
