Well all this fine weather is giving me a thirst and all so it got me thinking about this one. If you decide to head off for the day at the weekend, where’s your favourite place to drive to, and why? It’ll be interesting to hear the different places/locations that people visit around the country (and abroad too for any non Irish members).

I suppose my favourite used to be Brittas Bay in Wicklow, which boasts one of the best beaches in Ireland. I just love those sand dunes – you never know what you’re going to see when you climb to the top of the next dune, if you know what I mean http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/naughty.gif . Ah sure it’s a bird spotters paradise ;) And then into Jack Whites pub to down a few before the track home (watch you don't get stabbed though). The only problem now is that every son of a bitch in Dublin heads there for the day, and if you don’t leave early then you’re going to spend most of your time sitting in God damned traffic jams, and sure I’m sick enough of those during the week!

So where’s your favourite place to drive to, and why?

When the weather decides to be nice I generally head for West Clare. It has to be the all round most beautiful area of the country. It has everything from the Burren to beautiful beaches,The Cliffs of Moher and the Aillawee Caves. For an all round excellent day or weekend it's the place to go.If you're into the Trad scene go no further than Doolin and sur while you're there you might as well get the ferry and go visit the Aran Islands.
Definately an excellent destination for a hot bank holiday weekend.
