Madeira???

Just wondering if anyone has been to Madeira on hols and if so, what did u think?

Shirls, I’ve asked around here in work and one of my work colleagues has been there twice, once on his honeymoon. He says that it’s a beautiful island with many rare tropical plants and great walks. It’s a very quite place, with very few dicso’s etc. Also, as the island is volcanic and in general mountainous, there are no beaches there at all. The climate is sub-tropical, so wet weather can be expected. I’m sure there are guides as to the weather during different parts of the year on the Net (try this weather site (http://www.wunderground.com)). However, he did say that there is another island, Porto Santo, near by which makes for a good day trip by either boat (couple of hours) or plane (about 15 minutes). That island has a 5 mile long sandy beach, and you can also visit the house where Christopher Columbus lived.
