Michael Schumacher took the first World Drivers' Championship in 21 years for Ferrari, by winning the Japanese Grand Prix in style. Although a brilliant start by Mika Hakkinen saw him take the lead, the Finn was not able to hold on.
Master tactician, Ross Brawn, was able to gain the German track time during a short period of light rain, and he passed the Finn during the second pitstop. Coulthard was third, followed by Barrichello, Button and Villeneuve.

Good stuff Schumi.

Cheers Phil.

Yes Schumi won the WDC after a five year gap for himself and a 21 year gap for Ferrari. After the start u could have gone asleep as far as the second pit stop stage <Btw has anyone ever ever heard anyone get as exicited as those two plonkers on RTE over Pit Stops ? >

It was a major procession up until that stage, but obviously from the fuel load that was taken on by schumi on stop one he was [lanning something for the later stages

Anyways fair play to him

Yes a big congratulations to Schumi, its a well deserved win. I'm sure most people were rooting for him over the Ice Man, its good to see Ferrari back at the top. Looks like they can now go on to consolidate the double with the Constructors in Malaysia...go Ferrari, GO!
