I thought I'd have seen a few by now but no not one.
I think that there will be a major downturn in car sales this year in Ireland.
The last few years has seen major growth in sales but I can't see it lasting.
I saw a report on tv lately which stated that the amount of cars being repossesed had increased dramatically.
This is no great suprise to me as almost everyone is driving 98 to 00 cars nowdays.
The country may be well off but we're still not that rich.
Young people nowdays are getting out huge car loans without thinking of the effects that a downturn in the economy will have. This is because they can't remember the bad old days when people even had trouble trying to get a ****ty job.
Well that's my twopence worth!!!!!!!!!

In the first two days of trading this year, up to 7,000 cars with the "01" registration were sold and it is expected that over 200,000 new cars will be driven out of garage forecourts this year.
This current estimation for 2001 is 40,000 less that last year.
Before the current boom the best year for new car sales was in 1981, when 108,000 cars were bought.
According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) Toyota is the number on selling passenger car in Ireland. It's market share is 11.2pc with 25,818 cars sold last year, an increase of 33.2pc on 1999.

Saw two 01 reg's over the weekend - a Nissan Maxima and a Seat Leon. Funnily enough (but hardly surprising), both were metallic silver.
Well done whip...It was rare enough to see a Maxima! but a 2001 Maxima...that was exceptional!

Personally you could do without the advertising .. although a sticker from either eF or eob on an RX-7 wouldn't go astray .. although you could update your profile home page ..
So Anders what 01 did you settle for eventually ??

A classic one: My wife was driving her new P&J down the country today and was stopped at a tax/insurance checkpoint. And the guard asked, "Did you buy this car recently?". Ehhh, no I managed to get this 01 reg six months ago.
It's a RAV4, the 156 is no more. About the only pity is that I can't write lengthy posts about how crap the Alfa dealers are anymore. I'm very glad to see the back of those morons for good. I suppose the car had its moments, but overall the ownership experience was not a happy one.

... with the 156???
Did you sell it to MY mate or trade it in???
If you traded where did you tarde??? Send me an e-mail!
BTW I hope you & your wife enjoy the RAV4:)

It's traded in. I wasn't going to get much any cash discount by selling it privately, so that was the end of that. We also got the RAV4 about a week earlier than expected, so we just didn't have the time to do anything about it. There was obviously no money in it for us, but maybe your buddy could have saved a pound or two. We bought the RAV4 from Murphy & Gunn(e) in Rathgar.
An interesting thing is that the dealer pretty much told me that it was pointless to sell the car privately. This kinda goes against all the stories about dealers being flooded with used cars. I just don't see them being able to sell it for much more than the £17.5k I was offered.
