Happy New year to one and all. Its good to be back.

Had great fun over the Christmas period in my BMW during the snow. Its the first time I have travelled sideways while on the road. I gave Whip a great laugh when I could'nt even get the rear wheels up on his path when I tried to park my car. ( Hold my head in shame )

Is it because someone stole the badge from the front of my car ( without the badge the cars worth £20,000 less ) or is it I'm a bad driver. Rear wheel drive and snow, not a man's best friend!

Hey presumably your car doesn't have traction control?? What you could've done is click the handbrake up a notch or two to slow down the spinning rear wheel and transfer the torque across the back axle diff to the other wheel. It works like a limited slip diff that way!!!

My car has got traction control but the little yellow light comes on to say that the traction is off when trying to pull away in the snow.

I'll will diffently try out your handbrake idea.

Actually I'm not sure it will work if you DO have TC. BTW I think you need to re-read your manual. If the button is pressed the light comes ON to tell you the system is OFF, however if the light flashes whilst accelerating that means the systems electronics are fighting to restore traction.
