I'd have thought there'd be more BMWs and Alfas around than Mercs but then again a Merc is much more of a subtle car isn't it?

Mercedes Benz bestselling luxury car brand of 2000
The best-selling luxury car brand in Ireland for 2000, with car sales up 18% to 4,220 was the Mercedes Benz according to reports today. BMW sales finished at 4,000 units an increase of 50% on 1999, and the Alfa Romeo saw an increase of sales of 32% to 2,650 units. Sales on Volvo’s were up by 34% at 2,010 and Saab sales were up by 42% to 970 units. In total 230,850 new cars were registered in Ireland in 2000, a 33% increase over 1999.

Maybe sales of the small A-Class are distorting the Merc sales figures somewhat. OK so its built by a manufacturer categorised as a luxury brand, but its certainly no luxury car like its bigger saloon siblings.

...t aht over 50% of ALL new cars sold in Dublin were reposessed during last year.


BTW I may link this discussion to ANother site if this topic takes off. Maybe that way it's members will reply here out of curteousy :)

It was on the the news the other night that 6% of cars sold in Ireland last year was reposessed. The normal was 3%.

Where did you get your stats from Josh. ;) :)
