<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Well Phil the first thing you must remember is that you've now got a new rights on the road, those include no need to indicate when turning, you can now expect people to move out of the way when they see you approaching [/urine extraction]

God why did'nt I think of that. Watch out people there's a new BMW driver on the roads of Dublin. My moto will be "move it or lose it, there's a BMW coming through".
I wonder will I be in the good books with Deirdre, now that I am a BMW driver. And no sport pack 3 either.
Listen up wise guys, there's nothing tamer on our roads than a BMW driver. Sure we're a breed apart, or didn't you know that already? Smooth, sophisticated and refined, just like our cars. Need I say any more?
Oh, I forgot to mention: Phil, I remember reading that you we're considering purchasing the poor mans BMW, an Alpha 156. Glad to see you came to your senses and got yourself and real man’s motor, and a straight six too, good choice. Welcome to the club.

Sounds like you're full of it Tony.
I'd rather an Alfa 156 anyday.Leave the BMW's to the suits.Overpriced, underspeced boxes of metal.
Well I got Deirdre to thank for this. After running me over and leaving her 'thread ' marks on my back, I finally came to my senses.
I said to myself, forget the alfa and join the real club. The BMW club. Thanks Deirdre.

Well even though I'd have bought the Alfa (Note the correct spelling Tony), I still think the 320i is a nice car.I didn't think they made 320i's in '98 though??.
Anyway back to your original question Phil, Cartronics in Santry,Dublin do leather seat conversions using leatehr bought through BMW and use proper paterns. They are IDENTICAL, not sure on the price but it must be cheaper than factory as I know a certain dealer close by who gets them all done there.Check them out, they are always working on a new BMW.
As for the wheels, I used to have a line on a place that sold genuine BMW alloys for less than half the cost from a dealer. These wheels were made by the people who made them for BMW,I'll try to dig it up for you.
By the way what did you pay for it and what extras has it, I assume its the SE pack!!.
Regards,
BeCos
Thanks for the info BeCos. I'm glad to hear that a dealer gets the leather seats fitted into their new cars. I was'nt sure if it was a good idea getting leather seats fitted in a second hand car. I thought it might be like getting a sunfoof fitted... it's never as good as a factory job.
I'll give Cartronics a ring to get a quote during the week. If you can find that place that sales the alloys wheels for half the price, I would much appreciate it.
The spec of the BMW is the following:
Boston Green
31K
15" 10 Spokes
Leather Stearing Wheel
Wood Trim
Anthricide Colour Charcoal
CD Changer
Sun Roof
The price of the car was 24k
Cheers Phil

Tell me this is the E46 model.
Anders I'm new to BMW cars and this is my first one. Not quiet sure what you mean, what is the E46 model?
BeCos any luck finding the name of that place that sells the BMW wheels?
Cheers Phil.

E46 is the new shape 3-series, E36 is the old shape 3-series. The reason I'm asking is that it seems to me that £24k is a lot for a '98 E36 given that it is the older shape. But maybe BMWs hold their value better than I think.
What worries me abouyt people who buy BMW's or Alfa's is they think that Wood veneer still looks sophisticated.
Most of the time it looks downright cheap and tacky -even in a beemer.
Apologies for anyone who takes offence to those remarks.

At least in BMWs' etc. you get a choice of wood or carbon fibre or whatever. It doies my head in when that false would is standard and there is nothing you can do about it. Wood is for trees !!!
Phil,
No luck yet but later today I will be in touch with somebody who might know and I'll pass it on asap.

Originally I thought that the Alfa 156 Lusso sounded quite interesting. However, after seeing the Lusso in the flesh at a main dealer last month, I quickly changed my mind. The wooden fascia does not suite the car at all, and made it look very cheap indeed. I’ve since heard that the 156 Lusso model has been dropped due to lack of interest. I don’t know whether is true or not though (but I wouldn’t be surprised).

The BMW 3-series comes with either wood (extra) or aluminium strips (standard). I would never ever get wood in a car that's supposed to be sporty. I believe some leather seat options in the 3-series require the wood option, but I'm not sure. I have heard complaints that the aluminium strips can scratch easily, though.

Yeah Whippy the Lusso has been dropped, but I don't htink the public wre put off by the fake wood, which is one of the worst I've ever seen.
I think the public prefered the fashionable carbon fibre dash, lowered suspension, and 16" alloy wheels of the Sport pack over the standard looking Lusso.
Anders, forgot to add that shes's got the SE pack aswell.
Brand new it would cost £36,000 to get the same car.
I have to say the trackion control system is great on the BMW.
Cheers Phil.
Hi all,
I just brought this thread back to the surface as I'm interested in getting nice sporty alloys for my bmw. I was going to change the bmw to a newer one, but as i am changing the house instead I have to stay with the same car.
So anyone know where I can get a nice set of alloys for the bmw?
While searching around the web, I came across this site.
www.PerformanceAlloys.com (http://www.PerformanceAlloys.com)
A very informative site with images and prices of the alloys that suit your model of car.
I was interested in this alloy:
http://www.wheels.ie/uploadedimages/33_1.jpg
It costs £617.25 and delivery is free.
1. All our prices include VAT and Free Delivery. (UK & Ireland Customers Only).
2. Delivery is normally next day, if ordered before 2pm. (Subject to Stock).
3. If you purchase tyres with your alloy wheels they come fitted and balanced.
4. All our wheels are guaranteed for 1 year.
Is this a good price for a set of alloys or can you get them cheaper from somewhere else?
