Just so nobody is still confused by the change in the law...
1. Old system - Over 25? Ride any bike on a provisional licence.
2. New system - Over 21? Ride any bike up to 33bhp on your provisional bike licence. Pass your test than you can ride ANY bike, period. Under 21? - same applies except that you are restricted to 33bhp for 2 years following your test pass.
3. Class B (car) licence holder - ride any bike up to 125cc without having to obtain a bike provisional.
At the moment that makes it quite attractive as a mode of daily transport. Particularly with the new rule about using your car licence to ride a 125. Although it's *only* a 125 there are several bikes in that category that are more than adequate as commuters and will happily stay ahead of traffic in or around town.
