View Full Version : What's the slowest car you had???
The absolute slowest car I've had the pleasure of hearding down the road was a 1990 Ford Fiesta 1.0. It would do 0-60 sometime in the distant future. At motorway speeds, passing was a high stakes gamble with oncoming traffic, and as the car reached 80mph (when going down hill of course) it would SHAKE RATTLE and thank god it did'nt ROLL. But at these speeds, the best thing was trying to get the car to stop. Put you foot on the break and wait and wait and wait until the car would eventually come to a stop.I nearly put my foot through the floor one day trying to make the fecking thing stop. What a nightmare of a car. I'll will never go near ford again.
But being the guy I am, I sold it to my X girlfriend ;)

Heh, this one brings back memories!
Mine was a Fiesta too, but the 900cc version!! Top speed was 90 odd I think. On the way home from Brittas Bay one summer, there's a step down hill on the dual-carriageway - I don’t even know if it exists anymore. Anyways a very strong breeze had picked up and was directly behind me blowing in the exact direction I was driving. I drove like a lunatic down that hill and managed to get the Fiesta up to about 94MPH - she was revving so hard I thought the pistons were about to shoot through the bonnet!! Ah, those were the days before engine management systems!! :groovy:

My first car was a 900 cc Fiat 127 - It rattled uncontrollably at 55mph and topped out at about 75-80 (depended on the incline). Also, the bonnet flipped up at speed, the windows and boot and one door didn't open and I was never sure if it had brakes. I loved that car. My friends called it the little red Italian job.
