HOWDY,......

i thought i had seen it all on irish roads but what i saw today just blew me away......
i was driving on the m50 on the inside lane and had just passed the cavan turn-off at about 7.45am when i saw a car ahead of me, nothing strange here eh?, but you see what really astounded me was the fact that this car had its revering lights on and was reversing back up the motorway on the inside lane!!!!!!!! i changed lanes and watched in fascination in my rear view mirror as this car reversed to the turnoff, drove onto it, and off on his/her merry way!
its incredible to think this idiot is out there somewhere driving .
This got me to thinking , this would make a great thread......... so come on folks, lets hear your horror stories about life on Irish Roads and TOP THIS !!!!!!!

About two weeks ago, I was leaving the Naas Dual carriage way and heading on to the Citywest slip road when I was met by a car reversing down the road towards me. I pity the person in the car in front as I was in a foul mood.

NOW NOT RECOMMEND AT HOME KIDS!!!!

Instead of getting out of the way, I slowed down and made sure the car couldn't get past me. I waited and waited with the horn blowing until the WOMAN!! decided to cut her loses and go the correct way up the slip road.

But in the couple of years driving I had a few strange ones...

Coming off the M50 slip road which led to a roundabout with traffic lights, I met yet another WOMAN!! driving her car the wrong way around the roundabout. Only that I noticed the cars at the other traffic lights flashing their lights, I would have probably hit her head on.

Last but not least, I was coming home from Mayo at night, when I turned to my friend and said " God you'd swear that car in the distance coming towards us, is on our side of the road". Two seconds later my friend screamed that fecking car is on our side of the road, and I had to take quick action to get my car over into the hard shoulder before I hit the on coming car.

So there you go. Hope that keeps you going Seph for a while.

You see the reversing down an exit ramp move every so often. My all time favourite has to be the driver who was reversing around a round-about. Like hello! It's a circle! If you miss an exit, keep going around until you get there again.

Roundabout's must be the best for seeing stupid (and rather dangerous) driving!

A few months back, I witnessed the following at a busy Dublin roundabout. It was during rush hour traffic, and, as you can imagine, the traffic was dreadful, with about one car getting onto the roundabout every couple of minutes.

Well I was about two cars away from the roundabout when all of a sudden the car behind me pulled out onto the wrong side of the road. The driver then proceeded to drive anti-clockwise around the roundabout, not on the road, but on the footpath! He then takes the last turn off the roundabout – well it was HIS first turn as he was going the wrong direction!!

But what surprised me even more then, was that two more cars behind him decided it was a clever manoeuvre and followed suit!

As amusing as it was, it was IMHO also a stupid and dangerous thing to do. Its times like that I wish an unmarked Garda car was around to witness such events. As well, roll on the penalty points system.
