Last night must go down as a historic night in Europe. With most people saying that hopes for a good result were slim or nil, well cometh the hour and cometh the man. And indeed he stepped up, the weight of history riding with him, the weight of the critics oppressing him. The scene was set what would happen ... well he stuck it, and yessss there was a tremounds roar echoing around .... as Juniors GTi started at first asking ... after tracing some wiring problems and tinkering with a relay the fuel pump kicked into life. With the battery from a BMW (which was nicked out of a ford btw) being used she fired and burbled, as Toad said you could hear the grin on my face down the fone line. Yes having been parked up for three years roughly, it works almost perfectly .. bar the two fuel leaks and the gearbox only has first, second ,third and reverse.

Well stage 1 is completed the shopping list has grown ... so if anyone knows where the following can be got :-

High Pressure Fuel Lines
A 065 type Battery
A Gearbox Linkage
A Clutch Kit

Let me know

Just to sicken Phil ...
GTI Cost £250
Spark Leads £13
Labour £40
Total £303

teeheeee

Cheers

Any resemblance to a Liverpool match last night was purely conicidental.

Well done Junior! Any pics of the glorious moment?

I suppose now you'll start a Golf GTi restoration company? Something along the lines of the Old Volkes Home (for old Beetles) perhaps? ;)

Well Whip,
No theres no pics as I was under the GTi holding a fuel line together to get her started ... I might record the sound off her as soon as I get the timing right ... My house is like an old Volks home at the minute with MK I - IV sitting out front :D

When I was chatting to you the other day i meant to mention the fuel pump relay, did you have to buy a pump aswell or was it just a dodgy relay??

Those relays on that Bosch system are notorious for giving trouble.

Good to hear you are making progress, keep us up to date!

Last night we checked for a voltage across the pump nothing ... hmmm whipped out the relay and there was the problem the relay had become *ahem* corroded !!!

Bit of wire brushing and she was working again, but I do have one ordered ....
