I had a spin in one of these today - tio hell with all this petite sports car nonsense - a big Limo with effortless V8 warp drive and a TV screen is actually very pleasant - the close to the ground snappy steering bumpalong alternative can actually get a bit tiring - or am I just getting old? Do V8 auto limos only appeal to you when you should be signing up for your plot in Deansgrange?

There's definitely something to be said for that type of vehicle, particularly on long journeys. I saw an Audi A8 4.2 quattro in the paper for about £19k the other day, that's a tempting car too eventhough every review considered the 740i the winner until the new S class appeared. I'm not a traditional Audi fan, but there's just something about the A8 that appeals to me. If you buy any car in this class used, you get massive value for money because they depreciate like mad.

There are a few S600's around. Now that would be the mother of all cars to own.

I would definitely be into a big luxury limo like a 7 or an S-Class. I've always prefered bigger cars to small sports cars. Unfortunately this Country doesn't really want anyone to drive them. I mean roughly £800 road tax, possibly very high insurance, and running costs that could be high depending on mileage !

I/we are considering an older S-Class as an alternative to another small/medium car as a replacement for our 206 next year.

I have a mate selling a 92 730i if anyones interested, not sure of the details, but it has about 100k, velour, alloys, navy blue, a shade rough but it's cheap !

that'd be the six-cylinder job ;) & likely to be embarrassed by a 1.3 starlet with all that weight.. the A8 is supposed to be a great all rounder, but with all-aluminum bodywork - afew dings in the car-park could be expensive.. slow enough for a 4.2l also
