There was a Vintage Car Rally in Kildare at the weekend, which I probably would have attended if not for my God-daughters birthday party. I only found out about the rally on the day though. Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of upcoming events in Dublin or Ireland? I haven't hit a show at all this year.

Cheers,

Brian.

Was this the show in Celbridge ?

I was uppossed to go to that too. I only found out 2 days before but unfortunately I did in my ankle on the Saturday so I'm now on crutches, cant drive, and consequently cant go anywhere !!

I've asked various people about a list too, but to no avail. I think I'll have to join some club somewhere first.

There's a great Calender on this forum, its just a pity we've nothing to put in it. The Rally was in Straffan (is that how you spell it?). My girlfriends folks went to. Her Dad loves the old cars. Do you remember I posted a while back about a Jaguar XK120 that belongs to his pal? He was there with his other Classic, a 1929 Lagonda. Supposed to be very nice. I suppose he'd be a good source to check about shows, now that I think about it! I'd be interested new car shows as well though.

Good luck with the ankle. Try not to get sofa-bound watching football, dukes of hazzard, knight-rider etc. Its not good for the brain!!

Later,

Brian.

Just heard here from someone that lives down that way that the event was on in Celbridge Abbey.

There must be some institution that has the details of these shows. Anyone have any ideas?

Indeed Brian, the calendar is a great addition to the forum for information on such motoring events. If I had a list of events, I'd update them no problem. It would also be very easy for us to publish them in the news on the front page of the site.

Sorry to hear about the ankle Ben. It must have been a bad sprain for you to be on crutches. How'd it happen? I take it you're missing the smooth drive in the Merc?

Speaking of which, when I was on holidays the other week every single taxi in the resort was an E-Series Merc. I couldn't believe that I didn't see one other make (or even model!) of taxi. So much so I asked a taxi driver one night if they all had to drive them! Of course he said that they didn't, but that they drove them as they never have any problems and that the diesels just drive forever. One thing I did notice though, the boot space was a lot smaller than I would have expected. Ah well, at least the leather seats were nice N comfy.
